The class fee is $300 per person and is due upon official acceptance to the program. We do have limited numbers of scholarships available, and want to ensure that the inability to pay will not prevent anyone from doing the training.
Next: Take the class
Due to the uncertain future, classes may be taught over the internet, in person in the classroom and/or on local field trips. Training topics include basic botany, plant identification of local and other common plants, soils, fertilizers, composting, plant pests and diseases, pest control methods, pruning, crop rotation, plant propagation, garden planning, native landscaping, small fruits and berries, weed control, vegetables, water quality, and environmentally friendly yard management.
Upon completion of the course, students become Master Gardner Interns. Interns are asked to contribute 100 hours of volunteer service over a period of two years, at least 50 hours during the first year. Volunteer activities include participating in plant clinics, working at our demonstration gardens, doing public education projects, and other activities related to sustainable gardening. Upon completion of 100 hours of volunteer service, interns receive the title, Master Gardener.
