Our Vision
The vision of the MGFCC is to promote an educated, inspirational, and involved community dedicated to sustainable gardening practices and stewardship toward our native ecosystem. We work to fulfill this vision through
Community Outreach: The gardens are an important living educational classroom for the community at large. The numerous demonstrations throughout the gardens provide lifelong learning opportunities for home gardeners and students. Plants in the gardens range from natives to the latest hybrids. We hope to inspire community gardening excellence through knowledge.
Teaching: Educational seminars, demonstrations, and classes are presented by WSU Master Gardeners
and communityprofessionals and include lecture and practical hands-on experiences that help make learning more meaningful. Sustainable gardening practices, those that have a positive impact on the environment and crop production, provide a major enhancement to the livability of the community.
Research: The gardens are a tool that can be utilized by Master Gardeners and other horticultural professionals to conduct research on environmental issues challenging home gardeners, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and low maintenance landscaping.
Fund Development: Fundraising plans are designed to support garden programs, events and projects in horticulture. We actively search for grant writing and creative fundraising opportunities.
